This week SEO Inc. announced they would be teaching a three day class at the University of California, San Diego.  The course is designed for webmasters, small business owners, and corporate marketing staff and will run August 19-21, 2008.

This particular course, “SEO & SEM: The Fast Track to Search Engine Optimization and Marketing,” will start with the basics and move through intermediate topics.  Areas the class will cover include, website architecture, search engine operations, choosing keywords, writing search engine friendly content, optimizing code, and developing a linking strategy.

Currently there are a very limited number of classes offered throughout the country that focus on SEO/SEM and offer college credit.  I really hope that courses like this one become more and more prominent and help raise awareness of the industry as well as strengthen the foundation of new companies beginning search marketing campaigns.  I did a little research and found  Vertical Measures developed a list of 19 schools offering courses in SEO/SEM.  Let me know if you have heard of any other programs in the country offering college credit for search marketing courses.

The course is open to all who are interested.  The cost is $650, and you can register online at the UC San Diego Website
